Something to Wrap Your Head Around

Migraine Treatment

Did you know that one of the common causes of migraines is grinding your teeth?

In fact, many people who do grind their teeth are completely unaware of it because it happens in their sleep. If this grinding is not treated, along with causing headaches and even neck and shoulder pain, it can also cause problems with the Temporomandibular Joint (TMJ).

A Simple, Effective Treatment

A hard plastic mouth guard worn at night is often a simple and effective solution to your headaches and other potentially more serious problems down the road.

If you find that you’re having unexplained headaches or jaw pain/problems please talk to your dentist and he will help you find a successful treatment.

HAPPY PATIENT

I used to get the worst headaches- I thought I was going mad! But my dentist at Monkstown Dental discovered I was having issues with my jaw and he gave me a bite guard. What a difference!

Frequently Asked Questions

GOOD TO KNOW

WHAT CAUSES TMJ PROBLEMS?

The TMJ is comprised of two joints on the left and right which need to move together. If either side is out of sync with the other it can lead to TMJ dysfunction. Grinding and/or clenching your teeth can cause TMJ damage over time.

WHAT ARE THE SYMPTOMS OF TMJ PROBLEMS?

There are many symptoms related to TMJ disorders. Everyone is different, but some of the most common symptoms are headaches, eye pain, teeth grinding (bruxism), clicking or popping of the jaw, and ringing of the ears. Please speak to your dentist if you are experiencing any of these symptoms.
